In daily life and work, fire extinguishers are an important tool for dealing with early fires. As a portable fire extinguisher that meets European standards, EN3 fire extinguishers are widely used in homes, offices, shopping malls and other places. The correct use of EN3 fire extinguishers can not only effectively control the fire, but also ensure personal safety. The following are tips for using EN3 fire extinguishers to help you respond quickly in an emergency.

1. Understand the types of EN3 fire extinguishers

EN3 fire extinguishers are usually divided into dry powder, carbon dioxide, foam and water-based types, suitable for different types of fires. Dry powder fire extinguishers are suitable for solid, liquid and electrical fires; carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are mainly used for electrical equipment and precision instrument fires; foam fire extinguishers are suitable for liquid fires; water-based fire extinguishers are suitable for solid fires. Before use, be sure to confirm whether the type of fire extinguisher matches the type of fire to avoid incorrect use that may cause the fire to expand.

2. Check the status of the fire extinguisher

Before using an EN3 fire extinguisher, its status should be checked regularly. Make sure the pressure gauge pointer is in the green area, indicating that the pressure is normal; check whether the nozzle and hose are intact to avoid blockage or rupture during use; confirm that the safety pin has not been pulled out to prevent misoperation. If the fire extinguisher is found to have insufficient pressure, damaged or expired components, it should be replaced or repaired immediately.

3. Master the correct use method

When using the EN3 fire extinguisher, follow the five-step method of "lift, pull, aim, press, and sweep":

Lift: Lift the fire extinguisher and ensure a firm grip.
Pull out: Pull out the safety pin to release the locking device.
Aim: Aim at the root of the fire source, not the top of the flame, to cut off the source of combustion.
Pressure: Press the pressure handle hard to release the fire extinguishing agent.
Sweep: Sweep left and right to cover the fire source area until the flame is completely extinguished.

Be careful to keep a safe distance, usually 1.5 to 2 meters, to avoid burns from flames or high temperatures.

IV. Precautions after use

After extinguishing the fire, even if the fire seems to be extinguished, you should continue to observe to prevent it from reigniting. If the fire cannot be controlled, you should evacuate immediately and call the fire department. The fire extinguisher must be refilled or replaced by a professional after use, and you should not try to repair it yourself.

Mastering the correct use of EN3 fire extinguishers can effectively reduce losses in the early stages of a fire. Regular inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers to ensure that they are in good condition is the key to ensuring safety. I hope these tips can help you respond calmly in an emergency and protect the safety of life and property.
